Sainte-Marie (Nosy Boraha) is a tiny island situated a few kilometres off the north east coast of Madagascar. From its west coast, one can see Madagascar mainland; its east coast faces the Indian Ocean.

From Roissy CDG, Air Madagascar and Air France fly to several times a week. You can also fly to Antananarivo from Marseille. After a 10 hour flight, Air Madagascar will take you from Antananarivo to Sainte Marie airport in 45 minutes.
Please note that the Air Madagascar flight is overnight, with a direct transfer to Sainte-Marie. With other airlines, you will have to spend the night in Antananarivo before being transferred to Sainte-Marie.
If you already are staying in Madagascar, you can also fly daily from Toamasina airport (370 km north of Antananarivo) to Sainte-Marie in 30 minutes.

Madagascar’s climate varies according to the seasons and where you are. We will only mention Sainte-Marie. It is never cold and there are 2 main seasons: from June to September, when the humpback whales come and visit us, it is slightly cooler with a light breeze (up to 25°C at midday). There is no monsoon as such; there are just a few showers followed by sunshine, which doesn’t prevent activities as the temperature rises quickly.
It is slightly warmer from October to May (around 30°C) with a rise in temperature from December to February. Winds and rain showers calm down and a light breeze coming from the east is greatly appreciated. There is no dryness in Sainte-Marie and it is never very hot.
There is one hout time difference during French summer and 2 hours during winter.
No specific injections are required but an anti paludism treatment is strongly recommended before departure.
